According to Everett Rogers, the father of diffusion of innovation theory, the complexity of an innovation is a significant factor in whether and how fast it is adopted.
Therefore demonstrating ease of use is critical in accelerating diffusion of innovation.
The hottest innovation at the moment is of course the Apple iPad.
Fortunately for Apple, its Innovator and Early Adopter customers are demonstrating how easy the iPad is to use for them, by giving it to their toddlers, filming the results and loading it to YouTube.
This video of a 2.5 year old with the iPad already has close to 1 million views and has sparked a Meme of follow-up videos, which is great news for Apple and has probably helped contribute to the 1 million iPads sold in the first 28 days.
The Lesson
If you want to accelerate the diffusion of your innovation, find a creative way to demonstrate the ease of use.
