Is Optus stealing creative ideas from overseas?

Back in June I wrote a post called ‘So what if your creative’s aren’t so creative?’.

Well it appears the team over at Optus and M&C Saatchi have taken the idea a little too literally with their latest ‘Supersonic Deer’ ad.

I first saw the ad today whilst reading an article on smh.com.au on how the ACCC are taking legal action for “misleading and deceptive conduct“.

Apparently, Optus broadband is not as fast as a supersonic deer.

But what I was more shocked by is how much déjà vu there is in this Optus ad when you compare it to the multi award-winning Comcast Rabbit ad made by my friends over at Goodby, Silverstein and Partners (below).

The readers over at mUmbrella sure didn’t miss this coincidence

But what do you think?

It must be an Australian thing… There’s a new ad for Woolworths and Australian beef where they’re cooking a BBQ on the streets of New York and giving the locals a taste… Hellers Sausages in NZ did pretty much the same campaign with sausages in London a few years back.

Well at the end of the day all Australians are convicts so stealing ideas shouldn’t be outside our remit hey mate 😛
