What is your favourite TV ad of all time?

Whenever I tell people I work in marketing and advertising, inevitably the question that gets asked is:

“What is your favourite TV ad?”

Personally, this is a really easy one for me to answer as there was one advertisement that really made me want to get into this industry, and it still inspires me today.

The award-winning spot is called Crazy Ones, created by Chiat/Day for Apple back in 1997.

It was used as a brand spot to launch the Apple mantra: “Think Different”.

It is the copy writing brilliance in particular that makes this my favourite ad.

Every single word screams Apple. It just would not work for any other brand.

The copy writing brilliance is beautifully displayed in this tribute YouTube spot.

The final line, “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones that do” has driven me to push the boundaries throughout my career, and to buy more than a few Apple products along the way.

So there you go, ‘Crazy Ones’ is my favourite ad of all time.

What is yours?

One of my favorites from the 80s is for TDK cassettes. Looking back on it I can’t believe my parents didn’t freak out about the wet tshirt business at the end http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZwL1aQ2PYE
